New to HD maps?

You do not need to be a roboticist. You need a clear mental model of what an HD map actually is, what problem it solves, and how the pieces fit together. The first two chapters give you that model. Everything else in the book builds from here.

The Book

How to read this book

This is a book about high-definition maps for autonomous machines, and it follows one rule it tries never to break: never explain a technology before explaining the problem it solves. Formats and tools only appear once you understand why they have to exist. By the time you meet Lanelet2, you already know the question it answers.

Read straight through and each chapter hands you the idea the next one needs. Jump in for a specific answer and the Parts stand on their own. Either way, the book builds the mental model first, the vocabulary second, and only then reaches for a tool.
